Two Words

I had lunch with my SURP kada yesterday. We always tease Kuya Aldrin about his getting married, that I would coordinate his wedding (wedding planner, sort of). Out of the blue, my friend Teeny said I should start planning for her wedding next year! We have this sort of vow among the three of us friends that on Teeny’s wedding, Aidz will play the piano, I’ll play the violin and Olei will sing. Next year?! Now, is that a joke or what? I guess I really have to get serious and enroll in violin classes soon! Haha!

Coming back to office, I played my Lea Salonga Broadway collection. Got inspired with the songs and I searched the net for some lyrics. I ended up discovering this beautiful song, “Two Words” Lea sang on her wedding day (lyrics written by Freddie Santos and music by Louie Ocampo). I automatically fell in love with it. I plan to play this with my friends (Aidz, Olei, and myself) on Teeny’s wedding—seriously! Lea’s voice is completely enchanting plus I LOVE the music and the lyrics. And of course, her husband is simply adorable. Here’s the link.

“Two Words” is a story of a bride who pictures her life as she walks in the aisle. I love the part that says, “Facing you who brings me new tomorrows…” I feel sooo inlove today! >sigh<

I never get tired of watching this video. Who wouldn’t want to marry a man like that?

Two Words

Artist - Lea Salonga
Lyrics – Freddie Santos
Music – Louie Ocampo

In a while, in a word,
Every moment now returns.
For a while, seen or heard,
How each memory softly burns.

Facing you who brings me new tomorrows,
I thank God for yesterdays,
How they led me to this very hour,
How they led me to this place...

Every touch, every smile,
You have given me in care.
Keep in heart, always I'll,
Now be treasuring everywhere.

And if life should come to just one question,
Do I hold this moment true?
No trace of sadness,
Always with gladness...
'I DO...'

(instrumental)

Now a song that speaks of now and ever,
Beckons me to someone new,
Unexpected, unexplored, unseen,
Filled with promise coming through.

In a while, in a word,
You and I forever change,
Love so clear, never blurred,
Has me feeling wondrous, strange,
And if life should come to just one question,
Do I face each moment true?
No trace of sadness, always with gladness,
'I DO...'

Never with sadness...
Always with gladness...
'I...DO....'

Happiness

Artist: Lea Salonga
Album: Little Ms. Lea Salonga: Small Voice
Title: Happiness (duet With Gerard Salonga)

Lea:
You know some kids ask us what happiness really is.
Well, to me happiness is a hamburger, going to the movies, new clothes.
Well, what's your happiness, Gerard?

Gerard:
My happiness is a hotdog sandwich, new rubber shoes, new t-shirts,
New jeans and also my favorite part of happiness is love.

Lea:
Happiness is two kinds of ice cream
Finding your skate key, telling the time
Happiness is learning to whistle
Tying your shoe for the very first time
Happiness is playing the drum in your own school band
And happiness is walking hand in hand

Gerard:
Happiness is five different crayons
Knowing a secret, climbing a tree
Happiness is finding a nickel
Catching a firefly, setting him free
Happiness is being alone every now and then
And happiness is coming home again

Lea:
Happiness is morning and evening

Gerard:
Daytime and nighttime, too

Both:
For happiness is anyone and anything at all
That's loved by you

Gerard:
Happiness is having a sister

Lea:
Sharing a sandwich

Both:
Getting along

Happiness is singing together when day is through
And happiness is those who sing with you
Happiness is morning and evening
Daytime and nighttime, too
For happiness is anyone and anything at all
That's loved by you

---
I love this song. It makes me feel so carefree. My personal favorites are:

Happiness…
is getting along

is singing together when the day is through
is being alone every now and then
is coming home again

But the part that could really cost me some tears is Gerard’s line for his sister:
Happiness is having a sister. Isn’t that the loveliest thing to hear from a sibling?

And because happiness is anyone and anything at all that’s loved by you.

My happiness is my family and my joy is the Lord.

I’m currently enjoying some good pictures taken by my friend PC. He is an excellent photographer.

“I am the rose of Sharon, The lily of the valleys.”
“Like a lily among the thorns, So is my darling among the maidens.”
“Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest, So is my beloved among the young men.”
“In his shade I took great delight and sat down, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.”

Why So Downcast?

Psalm 42:11
Why are you downcast, O my soul?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

I can’t remember when, but I believe I was about 12 (?) years old when I first heard this beautiful a cappella song. It really made an impact to me and my siblings such that since, each time any one of us start humming the first beat of the song, everybody at home automatically joins in chorus! Yes, we really enjoy the song and you can imagine how we play around with the beat. It’s fun. Unfortunately, we don’t have a copy of that song anymore (I can’t even remember how we happened to listen to that then!).

But voila! Before we went home in May, our host handed me and my buddy each an audio CD of a group called Witness. It was very generous of him to do so. I scanned the tracks right away and saw that the first song is familiar. Actually, I like that song. That triggered my excitement until I saw the third track. Guess what? It has “Why So Downcast?” on it! Could you believe that?!! I was like, this is really a blessing! Believe me, my joy was overwhelming! I almost scared our host! Haha!

Now I’m enjoying the CD. I played it at home right away and of course, my siblings were delighted. I played it during church practice too. I’m just happy to finally have my own copy. Thanks a lot, Pastor!

Lesson:
God works in ways we cannot imagine nor expect. Who would have thought I will travel 7,000 miles from home and find a copy of the song I so enjoyed?
I say that’s Psalm 37:4 in action,
Delight yourself in the LORD and
He will give you the desires of your heart. :-)
